Dear Bundles of Joy,
So today we were able to get another ultrasound and see all of you! Everything is looking good: lengths, heartbeats, nuchal bone space, limbs, etc. We are so excited. Your dad kept saying he loves you guys already and loves seeing you on the screen. We are both in awe... is this real life?!
During the ultrasound, the tech guessed that Baby A is a girl and that Baby B is a boy. Baby C wasn't cooperating... hmm, is this foreshadowing the future??? Will you be the "difficult" one. :) Baby B, you were on your hands and knees at one point... so it was hard to get the measurements correct. The tech had me drink some apple juice and see if it got you to move around and lay more on your back. It finally worked and we were able to get the correct measurement.
After the ultrasound, we were able to meet with Dr. Elliott. He is amazing. He is older but you can tell he is really knowledgeable. He gave us the run through of selective reduction, risks with carrying multiples, and general procedures (i.e. c-section). He made sure we understood everything he was talking about and kept asking if we had any questions. He gave us a lot of statistics with multiples and surprisingly, they were a lot better than we thought. He is hoping and having us aim to get to 30-33 weeks +. His average time for triplets is 33 weeks, whereas other doctors are only at around 27 weeks. So, whatever his methods, they are working and we are willing to do anything he advises us to do. I asked if he does cerclages if needed and he seemed impressed with the question. He said that he most definitely does and they usually produce great results if you are caught early enough.
Anyway... we are so excited to feel so confident in our pregnancy already. He said that things look good and that we will meet again in 4 weeks... so I'll be 16.5 weeks at that point. They said they would most likely be able to tell what the genders are at that point!!! Yipee!
We will be having a gender reveal party where we will surprise our family that there are actually 3 of you coming! They are already so excited... this will be crazy! We are so excited to have everyone know and not have to filter what we say around people. YAY! Here's to a healthy and safe pregnancy.
Love,
Mom and Dad
On this blog, I write letters to my future child(ren). While some might think that writing to a future child is illogical or crazy, I have found that through writing out my thoughts, I am able to cope with my infertility. It is also a great way to express my feelings regarding my faith in Jesus Christ and knowing that God is the ultimate creator and therefore everything is in His timing. It is a great way to keep a "journal" of sorts for my family and me.
